My hardware guy asked me to look into whether or not we can use a fixed eSim (no card) with the 9160? If this is possible how do we program it with the particular carrier?
Please forgive my ignorance if I'm not clear.
Thank you,
My hardware guy asked me to look into whether or not we can use a fixed eSim (no card) with the 9160?
Yes, it is possible. In fact, the nRf9160 DK has the necessary pads laid out, and a switch for selecting it.
If this is possible how do we program it with the particular carrier?
This depends a lot on the SIM card, and what you want to do.

I believe it is possible to get pre-provisioned SIM cards.

But, if you want to be able to change the SIM profile, we support that as well.

The modem provides everything the SIM card needs for the GSMA's "M2M solution".

The "Consumer solution" is also possible, though you would have to implement the LPA yourself.

For more details about remote SIM provisioning, I recommend you start by looking at GSMA's eSIM whitepape.

Best regards,
