i was able to solve by changing usb.conf to mcuboot.conf

Which version of nRF Connect SDK are you using?

When you communicate using the the USB connector to the debugges (J2), the serial data has to go via the debugger.
This could cause errors due to delays.
To avoid this, try to use the USB connector which goes directly to the nRF instead, marked nRF USB (J3).
For using the nRF USB you need to build the SMP Server sample with the following configurations:

west build -p -b nrf52840dk_nrf52840 -- -DOVERLAY_CONFIG="overlay-cdc.conf overlay-fs.conf" -DDTC_OVERLAY_FILE="usb.overlay"

(First program the board (west flash) from J2, then reconnect to J3 before using DFU (mcumgr))

i've added CONFIG_HEAP_MEM_POOL_SIZE=2048 in prj.conf but it shows same above behaviour

Could you get the log from the command when you append the following flag?

--loglevel debug

I have done west flash --erase and then used mcumgr and i've also tried with smp_svr example both shows same above behaviour.

Hi Tushar

When you flash your program before trying to use the mcumgr, try to wipe the flash storage using:

west flash --erase

(See Building, Flashing and Debugging for documentation on the flash command)

Have you tried the SMP Server Sample?
