&lt;p&gt;In short, you can use either&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52832.ps.v1.1/power.html?cp=4_2_0_17_1#unique_2047546596"&gt;System OFF mode&lt;/a&gt;, which will power down the system&amp;#39;s core functionality and stop ongoing tasks, or&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52832.ps.v1.1/power.html?cp=4_2_0_17_2#unique_1905852297"&gt;System ON mode&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;with sleep mode, where the system wakes on events.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;When it wakes up from System OFF mode it will get reset, and you can see what targets will be reset in&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52832.ps.v1.1/power.html?cp=4_2_0_17_7#unique_961802881"&gt;Reset behavior&lt;/a&gt;. CPU, peripherals and&amp;nbsp;debug components will be reset. RAM is not reset, but parts of or the whole RAM might not be retained after entering System OFF depending on setting in the RAM[n].POWER registers.&lt;/p&gt;
