The nRF52840DK does not support debugging nRF9160 as this is an Arm Cortex m33 .

Usually issues with USB can be solved by updating the Connectivity Bridge on the nRF52. Is this what you updated it with?

I was trying to update through external debug probe using the nRF52840 DK but looking again I missed read the board compatibility! I'm getting the nRF9160 DK this afternoon so I can try using that.

I was having problems via USB too, but I will hopefully this afternoon use the new board as a debug probe and let you know what happens. Thanks

From the logs provided I see it prints board version PCA10056 (- nRF52840 DK), are you trying to use this to update Thingy:91? Or do you have a nRF52840 DK connected as well?

Upgraded and no, that didn't help. BTW I'm on a MAC OSX

I don't run nrfprog. I'm following guide https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fug_thingy91_gsg%2FUG%2Fthingy91_gsg%2Fgetting_started.html&anchor=getting_started__download_fw_step

But version on the machine is

nrfjprog version: 10.8.0

JLinkARM.dll version: 7.58b

One more thing, can you please provide me what version of nrfjprog you are running? Run the following command in terminal: nrfjprog --version

I did try using an earlier version of nRFConnect FD but it didn't help and v3.7.2 (as mentioned in a Case above) had problems running.

What version of the nRF Connect for Desktop are you running, and on what OS?

nRFConnect FD v3.9.2 (Programmer v2.0.1)

OSX v11.6.2
