Currently, you could use the nRF Connect for VS Code to build applications for the Thingy:91. However, to flash an application to the Thingy:91 as Øyvind mentioned , you currently need to use the Programmer app available in nRF Connect for Desktop. Make sure to put the Thingy:91 in DFU mode first (Steps: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/ug_thingy91_gsg.html#updating-firmware-through-usb ) and upload the file app_signed.hex that you should find in your application directory/build/zephyr as illustrated below:

Currently, the Thingy:91 is only available in the Programming app in nRF Connect for Desktop through MCUboot or an external JLink device.

What version of the Thingy:91 are you using? Make sure the onboard nRF52 device is programmed with the Connectivity Bridge application, if using USB. You can get the latest version in our Precompiled application and modem firmware package under the Thingy:91 download page.

An external JLink device will let you program the Thingy:91 via the VS Code extension.

Kind regards,
Øyvind
