The Softdevices that support advertising extensions are the S132, S140, S332 & S340, you can find this info here. However, this doesn't necessarily mean support for everything (eg. chained, periodic, etc.), for info on specifics like that you should check the release notes for a specific version of a SD.

The example you listed only use extended advertisement for the name, a very basic use case. PCA10040e (nRF52810 emulation on nRF52832) and PCA10056e (nRF52811 emulation on nRF52832) doesn't support extended advertisement, which is why the example with SD S112 is modified in this example not to use it.
