it removed the build error for me as well (nrf5sdk16 & ses8.24), but when running it on the device, it does not advertise and is invisible in nrf-connect ...

worked (SDK 17.1.0 and SES 18.1)
had another issue after trying this workaround (text section is larger than specified size) but i was able to fix it and now it work fine.
fix of the file size : devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../stuck-at-building-blinky-example-text-is-larger-than-specified-size

I was able to resolve this error by using SES v 5.42a. The build errors just went away!

YES!

This alone does not get it to work. But doing this (Go to Project->Options and then select Code->Library. For "library I/O" select RTT) as well as changing to #define RETARGET_ENABLED 0 in the sdk_config.h file as indicated by bko. That is the magic sauce. Thanks to both of you!

Solution:

If you're using latest nRF SDK (e.g. v17.1.0) then rather install older SEGGER Embedded Studio Release 5.42a

Rationale: latest SDK release notes state that "SES 5.42a" has been "used for testing and verification"

I tried changing one line in sdk_config.h to this: #define RETARGET_ENABLED 0 (instead of 1)

But then we get some linker errors like

C:/Program Files/SEGGER/SEGGER Embedded Studio for ARM 6.20a/lib/libc_v7em_fpv4_sp_d16_hard_t_le_eabi_balanced.a(fileops.o): in function `putchar':

fileops.c:(.text.libc.putchar+0x0): undefined reference to `stdout'.

...

I don't know what else to try...

Hi,

It might be because the path length is too long. Windows has a max character length for the path. Try moving the SDK closer to the root folder. For example to the C:\

hy thank for the respone,btw i'm using sdk 17 and use the NRF52833 Development kit, i'm also use Segger Embedded studio for programing. i'm not modified the code. i'm using ble_app_uart_pca10056_s140, i'm also using pca10100 for code but still not working.
