With the newer 4.25.1 version of the app I noticed a few things:

I believe, that when you disable Erase Application Storage there, the DFU will work.

Just moment ago I also released version 4.25.3, where the DFU should also work with this setting enabled, as failure in erasing app storage should not abort DFU, but should just ignore the error. This has been fixed now in the latest version.

Hope it will work for you!

RE: nRF Connect app on Android has a regression related to DFU

Aleksander,

I do not know which DFU solution your nRF Connect for Mobile app is using. I am trying to perform a DFU to the app core of the nRF5340 so maybe that provides some insight for you.

I tried the nRF Connect Device Manager app but it cannot find my device. I prefer not to spend any more time with this device manager app. My current workaround is to use a second Android device which has the older 4.24.3 version of the nRF Connect for Mobile app.

Thanks,

Thank you for reporting the issue in nRF Connect for Android. What Edvin was trying to fund out is the type of dfu you're saying is not working. Nordic had currently 3 different DFU solutions, depending on what kind of fw is flashed on the device. Anyway, we'll test all of them and release a bug fixing release as soon as possible. Sorry for terrible.

In the mean time, you may try a different app, with misleadingly similar name: nRF Connect Device Manager, also available on Google play store. Please, tell us if that work for you. Scan for your device, perhaps modifying the filter in top right corner, select it by tapping and you'll find the update functions on the Image tab.

Hope it'll work! If not, please say what error do you get.

Thank you!

RE: nRF Connect app on Android has a regression related to DFU

Edvin,

I am not using an SDK. I am using the DFU functionality that is built into the nRF Connect app that I downloaded from the Google PlayStore. I am using the DFU functionality on my Android cell phone to update a consumer device/product I am developing.

I am sorry that I am not able to test this myself (don't have an android), but I will check with the app development team if this is something that they have seen. I will keep you updated.

When you try to perform the DFU, are you using the nRF5 SDK or nRF Connect SDK?
