If you use the nRF Connect SDK the VS code and nRF Connect extension mentioned by <a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/members/anthony-yuan">Anthony Yuan</a> is the best option. For nRF5 SDK projects I would recommend using <a href="https://www.segger.com/downloads/embedded-studio/">SEGGER Embedded Studios</a>.
