It's because the preview kits came with 52840 engineering samples that had a number of USB related hw issues ( ref. nRF52840 Engineering A Errata). This revision is no longer supported for development.

Hi,

My setup looks exactly the same and I have checked USB cabled initially.

I have just now notice that I am using a nrf52840-Preview-DK... Why is this an issue ? Can i make some modifications in order to make this work, or am I force to buy a "non-preview DK" ?

Hi Jakub,

Thanks for confirming. So it seems like it must be something with the setup then. Did you try using different USB cables as well? A bad USB cable or hub could potentially explain the issue you are seeing. Please also make sure you are using a nRF52840-DK and not a nRF52840-PreviewDK.

Hi Vidar,

Thank You for answer, I have flashed the .hex provided by You to both of our nrf52840 DK with following result:

As You can see the issue remains, it is exactly the same as before. I am really clueless about this issue.

Furthermore, with .hex provided by You I could not see the BLE device using nRF Connect for Android.

Hi Jakub,

I'm not really sure what the issue could be here considering they are enumerating, I did not manage to replicate it here with these 2 samples either.

Attached below is the peripheral_uart hex I used. Maybe you could you try with that one to see if you still get the same error?

peripheral_uart with USB CDC built for nrf52840dk_nrf52840 (west build -b nrf52840dk_nrf52840 -p -- -DOVERLAY_CONFIG=prj_cdc.conf -DDTC_OVERLAY_FILE=usb.overlay)

devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../8132.zephyr.hex

Programming hex with nrfjprog

$ nrfjprog --program zephyr.hex --chiperase --reset

Data sent and received from nRF connect app on iOS (app is available on android as well)
