When does Nordic intend to have MacOS M1 support for the entire development toolchain (including native VS Code support)?
Including such oddities as supporting the installation by nRF

RE: nRF toolchain support for MacOS M1 with VS Code

Thanks for the feedback.
I bought a clean macbook air M2. I followed Nordic's manual installation instructions exactly, because Toolchain Manager had not worked recently. It's all much better, but not perfect:

1. guiconfig requires tkinter, you have to use brew to install it, not pip3

2. because you get python 3.11, some python scripts may fail. I debugged certs generation with Pycharm (solution: downgrade anytree from 2.9.0 to 2.8.0)

3. JLinkExe 7.88j (universal) still exhibits a couple of quirks with nrfjprog.dll

4. --sectorerase does not appear to work with nrfjprog --program, so click the 'full erase then flash' button

5. somewhere the bindings in VS Code debugging actions (like restart) can change to do things like reload the image - not desired, not set, when did it happen?

6. nRF Connect Extension pack can go wrong, things like remembering kconfig fragments you removed: solution is restart VS Code, delete all build folders and check settings for options that had been silently inserted

7. Undocumented environment variables can have funny values (like $srctree in VS Code)

RE: nRF toolchain support for MacOS M1 with VS Code

Our tools now support Mac M1.

Our official releases are unfortunately still not updated for complete M1 support. I think you ask because this case. You could install an universal version of JLink from https://www.segger.com/downloads/jlink/ (see this post) and then follow my colleague, Kenneth's instruction in that case.
