Another option is to use GCC with NetBeans. I personally don't like Eclipse and have been using NetBeans for a while.

I've written a complete tutorial for setting up the development and debugging environment on a Mac here.

I decided to go with Eclipse. It's a pain to get working (building without errors), but when that hurdle is over, it works fine. Just can't get the debugger to work with nRF52 Preview DK.. It keeps stopping/halting by setting a temporary breakpoint.. Will look more into it.

It also works well with IDAP-Link too, very fast.

I use Crossworks and love it. It's free up to a certain size binary and cheap for hobbyists after that. Eclipse is nice but Crossworks, especially the debugging environment, blows it away.
