Errors with building a sample project with MCUboot

Hi,

I am following these steps to build a sample project to try out OTA updates of the firmware.

However the issue is that when I add CONFIG_BOOTLOADER_MCUBOOT, my builds start to fail. I tried with both 1.8.0 and 1.9.1 sdk

Hi Ahmed, 
I tried here and has no problem with compiling. 
From the log it seem that the following is missing: 

Could you check if you can find Kconfig file in your NCS  at this folder: \nrf\modules\mcuboot\boot\zephyr ? 

If you don't I would suggest to re-install the SDK, I would suggest to do that using Toolchain Manager as instructed here.

The Kconfig file is available at given path.




I originally installed the SDK via nRF Desktop Connect->Toolchain Manager. However I will try to reinstall it again to see if that helps!

Hi,

Thanks for taking time to assist. I installed the M1 version of VS code and then installed the plug-ins again. Launching it via nRF Connect from Desktop shows following message. I then choose Skip, it starts VS code and I can build successfully now.

okay thanks, because the issue is that if I use M1 version of VS code, I can build but can not flash to the chipe as the nRF Command Line Tools are not installed warning is shown in VS. And if I use the Intel version, I can not build with CONFIG_BOOTLOADER_MCUBOOT=y.

Hi Imitz, 

I'm not sure how to fix that but for flashing you can open a terminal in VS Code and use either nrfjprog or west flash to flash the chip.

True, what about debugging though?

I would suggest to double check if you have the nRF Connect for VS Code extension setting correctly . You should have something like this: 

Again it's on Windows, I'm not sure how it should look on MACOS but you can check on the Intel version of VS Code. 
If you have installed Ozone, you have an option to debug with Ozone this should work independently from VSCode.
