For new projects, we recommend nRF Connect SDK. This is where new development will happen, this is where we have our newest features and this is where new SoCs and features will be supported. See our nRF Connect SDK and nRF5 SDK statement for details.

Regarding the nRF51 series, the Bluetooth stack of nRF5 SDK is not available for new designs. The stack was built for Bluetooth Core Specification v4.1, which is currently deprecated and gets withdrawn on February 1st 2023. nRF Connect SDK v2.0.0 is available through version 1.0.0 of the toolchain manager. You are currently on version 0.10.3. Please note that the default SDK install path changes for Toolchain Manager v1.0.0, so if you are using the default install path then Toolchain Manager may not see previous installs. To get them back, you can change the install path back under the SETTINGS tab of Toolchain Manager.
