There are lots of explanations for the Secure DFU on the web.

Here are some examples.

We are already providing the tool for combining the multiple hex files for production that is called "mergehex.exe".

You may easily find out the file in your environment.

Usually, it located in "C:\Program Files\Nordic Semiconductor\nrf-command-line-tools\bin\".

To have a working combined Hex file, you must have "bootloader settings" that are described in the above links.

Regarding the new placements that you mentioned, this is related to your application.

If you use peer manager with default configuration, it will reserve several pages for storing bonding information.
