Yes. First you need to RESET the dongle, then select the device in the list, load the file "sniffer_nrf52840dongle_nrf522840_7cc811.hex" and click on "write". As said the error message was quite confusing but seems to be normal. I then tested the sniffer on Wireshark with success.

Just a side question: does Nordic have a "Wideband" receiver that can explore the complete 2.4GHz band?

Have you selected the device from the upper left corner in your image?

Which sniffer hex file are you trying to program and to which board? Is this one of the hex files provided by us?

Hi gentleman. We can close this ticket because the error "Failed to write: Error:Timeout waiting for device xxxxxxxxx to be attached and enumerated" that pops-up after writing the file is confusing but is normal since after programming, the dongle is not anymore in "bootlogger" mode. Reaching 100% indicates that the firmware is well written in the dongle...

This ticket can then be closed, I guess.

FYI, the button RESET helped me to try to reprogram of the dongle. But again, it failed: here is the message I got when I try to "Write" the "sniffer_nrf52840dongle_nrf522840_7cc811.hex":

OK, this confirms that the nRF52840 dongle can well be used. Then, coming back to my initial question: what can I do to make my 2 dongles again operational? Is there a module of the ""nRF Connect for Desktop v3.11.1" or any other "action" (hidden/secret commands?) that could be used to diagnose and make them working again?

Hi,

You could use nRF52840 (PCA10059) dongle as a sniffer. Other available options are listed in the documentation.

In fact, we used the nRF51 dongle to sniff the BLE but apparently, this board seems to be obsolete. It is the reason why we tried to switch to the nRF52. If the nRF52 dongle version is not the most appropriate, what are you suggesting to use as a successor of this "old" nRF51 dongle? From my understanding, the nRF52840 dongle should do the job as well, shouldn't it?

Oh yes, there is a typo, you are right. The one I used is indeed the "sniffer_nrf52840dongle_nrf52840_4.1.0.hex".

Do you have a custom boards, nRF52840-DK or nRF52840 dongle boards?

Is there a typo when you specify sniffer_nrf52840dongle_nrf2840_4.1.0.hex instead of sniffer_nrf52840dongle_nrf52840_4.1.0.hex?

I tried to program the boards for BLE sniffer ("sniffer_nrf52840dongle_nrf2840_4.1.0.hex"). Indeed, the same error appeared while programming each of the devices. Both of them seems not operating anymore.

What are you trying to program and to which device?

Have you tried programming both devices? Does the error during programming occur only on one device or on both devices?
