What were your measurements for the different scenarios?
What is the reason behind this that I am getting less current consumption when powering through Vdd?
There is no 'current limitation' on either of the two - current flow is controlled by resistance and voltage, according to ohms law. It is you yourself that need to make sure that you are not exceeding the current draw of the GPIO electrical specification in order to not damage the device.
This thus means that if you are seeing a different current when you are measuring your sensor's consumption either your supply voltage or circuit resistance has changed. If the difference is consistent over multiple measurements I would assume that the supply voltage has changed. Have you measured the supply voltage for the two scenarios? How did you power your device when you made the measurements?

Best regards,
Karl

RE: nRF52832

I have measured the current through power profiler.
