This looks correct to me now. If you want a different RAT value than you are getting you need to ask your network provider about it. Are you getting PSM on your device now?

That is a bit complex, and not something you would necessarily have to worry about. You would just preferably refer to Tau-extended instead of the other.

What version of modem FW are you using?

Hi, I ran XMONITOR and the results are below. The values for active time and Periodic-TAU-ext match, but I was wondering what the value for Periodic-TAU represented and why it's different from Perodic-TAU-ext?

I think LTE-M should support PSM mode as well, this is something you will have to take with your network provider.

Yeah it might be that the network is giving you other values than the requested, though it should give you the highest it allows.

Could you also confirm these values using XMONITOR though?

Hi, after double checking, it would seem that I've been using LTE-M, which I'm assuming does not support PSM mode?

In any case, I updated my configuration file to use NB_IoT and set the PSM interval to 320H as per your instructions. Running the AT+CEREG? command, the TAU time seems to match the value requested from AT+CPSMS? but the active time is different. Could this be due to the network?

Where are you seeing this? To me it seems that it is still not enabling it as "11100000","11100000" is still a zero.

You don't have to wait it out, you can just check it with these AT commands.

Could you try to increase it even more, to lets say 320H. Just to check if that makes a difference.

Yes, that was the original intention, but I wanted to try a shorter interval so I didn't have to wait around for 10 minutes to see if PSM had indeed been enabled.

It would seem that the overly short PSM TAU interval was the issue, as when I changed it to 10 minutes, the active_wait_timeout actually behaved correctly (as opposed to sampling the data but not publishing it) and from the CEREG, it would seem that PSM is working correctly..?

Yeah, looks like PSM should be requested in the modem at least (not necessarily enabled, as that is something the network would do). And as CEREG told us, it doesn't enable PSM.

The values doesn't look correct to me. +CPSMS: 1,,,"10100001","00001010", so Tau is set to a minute and RAT is at 20s. I thought you wanted 10 minutes and 30 sec?

And could you try to request a longer Tau value and see if that helps getting you PSM from the network? This Tau value is extremely low, maybe that is why the network doesn't even bother enabling PSM. The network would want to minimize the load after all.
