basically i want to understand how build configurations can be changed from nrf51422_xxac to nrf51822_xxaa

The "nrf51422_xxac" in Build configuration is just the name of the configuration. As long as the other settings are correct for your chip variant, the name does not matter. ANT support is main difference between nRF51422 and nRF51822/nRF51824, and flash/RAM size is main difference between xxac and xxaa. Flash and RAM sizes are modified according to previously linked Adjustment of RAM and Flash memory tutorial.

For debugger target, you can use nrf51822_xxaa target.

But how to set this? As under build configuration only nrf51422_xxac is visible and no other option available.

You can use nrf51822_xxaa for this as well.

Yes, as I stated before, nRF51822 and nRF51824 are identical apart from the automotive grading on the latter.

You should be able to use the nRF51822_xxAA target.

This brings me to a more query. When i followed a blog post after completing i see configuration of nrf51422__xxac now how to move this to nrf51824?

Plus i dont see nrf51824 under project>>option>>debugger>>target. So how to move in this case ?

Hi,

Apart from automotive grade AEC-Q100 qualification, the nRF51824 chip should be identical to nRF51822.

Note that the nRF51824 only comes in a QFAA variant with 256 kB flash and 16 kB RAM, while the nRF51 DK contains a nRF51422 QFAC chip with 32 kB RAM. See Adjustment of RAM and Flash memory tutorial for details on how to change the size configs in different IDEs.

See the Compatibility matrix for variants and supported SDK and softdevice versions.
