Just to update the status on this task. I think I've managed to perform it following this tutorial here:

Mostly, what I had to do was to build the smp_svr + mcuboot as described here: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/zephyr/samples/subsys/mgmt/mcumgr/smp_svr/README.html

Flash the "merged.hex" to the device.

And using mcumgr via serial I'm able to manage the images (flash, test and confirm).

There are still some issues to be mitigated, but they are more related to consumed flash memory and start-up time.

Hello,

Is there a programmer on the DK that you are using? (I am not familiar with Lairds HW). If not, I believe that you need to program the bootloader before you are able to use it. The Nordic tools assume that you are using our HW, which has an onboard programmer. So if the Laird HW doesn't have that, you will not be able to use our tools with it.

I suggest you check with Laird how you are supposed to interface the device without a programmer. Perhaps they have some custom tools that you can use.
