 For custom board designs, as the Segger JLink is no longer supported, what is the recommended solution for doing code development, debug, erasing and programming via the Serial Wire Debug interface (either 10 or 20 pin headers)?

&lt;p&gt;nrfjprog, which is called by west and vscode, supports segger based debuggers.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For development purposes, you can also use a nRF5340-DK to program a external board, provided that your external board is 3.0V powered:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For programming Cortex M33 cores (which is the cpu core on both nRF53 and nRF91), a newer debugger is required, as the nRF52-series on-board debuggers do not support programming Cortex M23/M33 devices.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Segger has dedicated debuggers and programmers for programming of nRF5-series devices (and nRF91-series) available for purchase:&lt;/p&gt;
