Any nRF52840 variant that has been in mass production can be used with the latest tools and SW components (that means revision 1 and newer, but not engineering samples).</p> <p>You should be aware that the latest revision has an improved <a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ps_nrf52840/dif.html?cp=4_0_0_3_7_1#concept_udr_mns_1s">access port protection</a> mechanism, and in order to remain compatible with that in case you use these at a later point you should base your firmware development on an update SDK.
