Thank you for the response. And thanks for the suggestion about the modulated carrier. I will definitely look into using that. I see that the test example you suggest is from the nRF5 SDK. Is there a corresponding test example in the nRF Connect SDK?

For the channel map, I have a few remaining questions:

For our particular use case it would still be useful at times to be able to constrain the channel map during normal operation. If I use bt_le_set_chan_map() to specify specific channels, will that remain persistent or will the channel map be altered automatically at any point such that I have to monitor it and keep using bt_le_set_chan_map()?
How can I query the channel map that is currently in use?

This can't be done using the BLE stack and you can't setup only one channel in the channel map, it must use minimum of two channels.
