I am working on a customized mqtt_simple version on the Thingy:91 to measure vibration and temperature data and send data in about 4 minutes rythm to our server via MQTT. This works quite well but during PSM I still have a power consumption

RE: MQTT Simple: Disabling Serial leads to crash while connecting

Hi Jürgen,
Just one more question: Does this mean that with my project on a Thingy with version 1.6 or higher I automatically have a lower consumption of about 160 µA? Or is that not so easy to say?
I cannot be certain that this is the only problem wrt. sleep current, but this is a known issue with the older revisions of thingy:91. There's several sensors connected to the nRF9160 on the thingy design, which again means that there's several GPIOs that needs to be set to an idle state before entering sleep mode.

What you can do is to try to run other samples, even without the modem started, to evaluate the current consumption.

Kind regards,
I have been looking for it but I'm afraid the Thingy is sold out everywhere. Are there currently ways to get Thingy's in version 1.6.0?
Or do you know when they will be available?
Unfortunately, I do not have information related to availability.

However, your local regional sales manager (RSM) shall be able to help you with this question.

Which version of thingy91 are you currently using?

We had a hw issue with v1.5 and lower, where RF switches drew power:

thank you very much for the quick reply!
That was exactly the problem.

A have changed those two configurations, and now it works fine.

The consumption at sleep is now at 230 µA.

Would you have any tips on where I can find further potential savings in sleep mode?
I have already PSM activated and the sensors are off which I do not need.

You seem to be building with SPM on the secure side.

in your spm.conf, it seems that CONFIG_SERIAL is unset. You can additionally add "CONFIG_SPM_BOOT_SILENTLY=y" to the child_image\spm.conf file.

In your application prj.conf, it seems that you have enabled the AT host library. This will use a uart backend.

Try disabling it: CONFIG_AT_HOST_LIBRARY=n

Could you try this and see if it helps lower the current?

Kind regards,
