We are using the latest ncs release (2.0.2) on a nRF52840 integrating Matter. When looking at the sample apps (e.g. light switch example), the RAM usage for the Matter part is really high (~80% of the available RAM), which leaves little space for

RE: Matter high RAM usage

Matter as an application layer depends significantly on other modules and layers so we need to take a closer look at that. In general we have put much effort into FLASH occupancy optimizations,

we deliver the unique configuration for Thread/Matter combined and as the Matter release 1.0.0 is going to happen soon, there is currently no plan to optimize the RAM utilization. We need to get more information in numbers from you regarding what optimizations were expected and the numbers that you see. Mentioned buffer sizes/counts do not affect the Thread certification, so they can be profiled to match user's requirements. To achieve that I believe that you should track the occupancy of used buffers in real scenario to make sure it works properly. Also, to investigate RAM usage per module the `ram_report` build target comes in handy:

https://docs.zephyrproject.org/3.1.0/develop/optimizations/tools.html

We may also suggest to switch to the nRF53 which has more RAM available.

This looks like something only the Matter team can answer. I have requested the team to help us out here. I can get back to you as soon as there is some more information from the team on this.
