&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;I&amp;#39;m not aware of any phones supporting Direction Finding over BLE as of yet, and it does not seem to be supported in the Android or iOS&amp;nbsp;operating systems either I&amp;#39;m afraid, and for testing you&amp;#39;ll need an antenna array for the RX side like the&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="https://www.insightsip.com/products/bluetooth-smart-modules/isp1907"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;AoA Demo kit from Insight SiP&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;(our antenna array design), or&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="https://www.u-blox.com/en/press-releases/u-blox-presents-bluetooth-aoa-explorer-kits-high-precision-indoor-positioning"&gt;U-Blox AoA kits&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span&gt;.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;The error returned from &amp;quot;start scanning&amp;quot; is an I/O error (input/output error) that can be seen when an antenna array is not connected to the RX board.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
