&lt;p&gt;I installed mint in a VM, and noticed that when I ran wireshark as root, it started sniffing as expected.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Can you try to add your user to the wireshark and dialout group?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;pre class="ui-code" data-mode="text"&gt;sudo usermod -a -G wireshark youruser
sudo usermod -a -G dialout youruser&lt;/pre&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Then reboot and see if it starts to sniff as expected.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;This allowed my user to run wireshark properly:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have the same version of wireshark installed, running on ubuntu, but I do not have this problem at my end.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Do you have access to the /dev/ttyACM0 device from your user?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If not, you can install the udev rules for all nrf devices and reboot (or reload udev):&lt;/p&gt;
