Hi Divya,

Yes, you need to use the debug board and an external USB to UART converter as is described in the documentation. However, the debug board mentioned is the one that is provided in the Thingy:53 kit (to the right in this picture):

So you only need to get the external USB to UART converter.

Both the issues has been resolved now.

But I need to confirm that for Bluetooth: Peripheral UART:

As mentioned here:

Do we need any external board? or only Jlink debugger and Thingy Device will be sufficient?

Can you share the entire build log with the error from the UART sample?

How are you programming the Thingy:53 when using the external debug probe? Do you use the "Flash" action in VS Code, run west flash in terminal, use the Programmer app, etc.?

Also, When I have tried the Thingy:UART sample using thingy53_nrf5340_cpuapp_ns configuration then it is successfully flashing the code but on the other hand the problem with thingy53_nrf5340_cpuapp_ns configuration is same. Again my device is not my device is not detectable when I am using thingy53_nrf5340_cpuapp_ns as in build configuration.

Edit: I believed I had reproduced the issue, but it seemed like my issue was related to something else. So I am able to use MCUboot to program the Thingy even when building as non-secure.

Do you see this happen with other samples as well?

You can check in the build folder where your project is built. If your application is built with MCUboot enabled you should have an mcuboot folder inside the build folder.

When you use thingy53_nrf5340_cpuapp_ns as build target you are building for the non-secure domain. If the sample has support for non-secure it should still work, as then the sample should automatically include the Trusted Firmware-M. Which sample are you seeing this in?

I do not know how to check if "peripheral_lbs include MCUboot when I programmed" but Now it is working for me. But I have few queries:

1. How can I check that my code include MCUboot?

2. Can you please clarify and help me to understand that why it is happening?

Hi Divya,

Did peripheral_lbs include MCUboot when you programmed it? Since you used an external debug probe there is a chance that you removed the bootloader, and if that is the case you will not be able to program it through USB. You will need to use an external debug probe to program the bootloader again.

Yes, I have used external programmer that is Jlink and I have tried to upload the code provided in this link:

https://github.com/nrfconnect/sdk-nrf/tree/main/samples/bluetooth/peripheral_lbs

and it has been flashed successfully and since after that the device is not detectable.
