Etienne,

Try putting a breakpoint when you do normal Bootloader update (not background) right at the moment when the setting is written by the bootloader. Before it's swapped by the MBR.

By having that setting, you just need to match what you need to write in the application when they do background DFU. You can read the setting out either by reading flash, or just looking at the memory at the breakpoint and then compare it with what they write using the application in background dfu

Hi Susheel,

I had a look to the known issues but none of them is an anwser to our problem.

We remove the function settings_forbidden_parts_copy_from_backup to avoid the issue and now firmeware update wroks fine.
But we are facing a strange situation. The firwmare udpade works well but the bootloader update does not change the bootloader version. So we are not able to know if the update works well or not.
Is there any specification about modifyng the settings during bootloader update ?

Thanks for the recommandation but we already have product on production with the nrf5 SDK 15.3 and nrf5 SDK 15.2. We manage to update the sdk from SDK15.2 to SDK15.3 but we facing a DFU issue on some device and we need to modify the Bootloader from the SDK 15.3 to avoid this issue.

I would also recommend you to use latest SDK instead of using a very old sdk with known many issues. you should use SDK 17 for nrF52840 if you want to stick to nRF5 SDK.

I do not see anything obviously wrong in the code snippet you sent, So it is a bit hard to guess what is wrong. There were few known issues in SDK15.3 relative to DFU, did you check to see if any of them are relevant in your case?

Just go to this thread and search for "DFU" to find the issues and workarounds for them.
