It is always best to debug nrfjprog issues with logs enabled. You can run --log with any command to get the details error report logged into a log.log file in the directory in which you run nrfjprog command.

     --log [<path>]          Enable logging.
                             Default output file is "log.log".
                             Set the <path> option to modify log file
                             location and/or name.
                             If the parent folder of <path> does not
                             yet exist, nrfjprog will attempt to create it.
                             Logger output is always appended
                             to the file.
                             Must be combined with another command.
