&lt;p&gt;We used&amp;nbsp;GCC ARM Embedded 9.2020-q2.update for the testing&amp;amp;verification of SDK v17.1.0. I recommend updating/installing that version instead.&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://developer.arm.com/downloads/-/gnu-rm"&gt;https://developer.arm.com/downloads/-/gnu-rm&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Yes, you need to build and flash the bootloader to your device. If you don&amp;#39;t have a bootloader already on the device, you need to flash it with a programmer, i.e. using Jlink/SWD.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You can find the bootloader projects in the folder: nRF5_SDK_17.1.0_ddde560\examples\dfu&lt;/p&gt;
