Hi,

This might be late, but what worked for me in order for the dongle to not appear as unknown was installing this: https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/nrf-udev.

Hi,

It might be that the reset button lost the function or the Open DFU Bootloader is erased. Then, you would need an external debugger such J-Link or DK to program the code or the production bootloader (see the instruction in that tutorial).

Hai Amanda ,

I do see a Green color led glowing while plugged to the USB port in my laptop

While tapping the Side way led button, the Green LED toggle off and again flash

I can't find the red LED flash, where is the problem?

Hi,

Do you see the Red Led flash on the Dongle after pressing the sideway reset button? If so, you should see the nRF Connect for desktop/Programmer detect the dongle with the name "Open DFU Bootloader".

If not, did you ever connect the Dongle with external debugger to flash other image?

Hi,

It needs to press the reset button to put the Dongle in DFU mode. This is not needed if the currently running application uses the DFU trigger library. Note that the reset button is the sideways button right next to the more obvious SW1 button on the Dongle:
