The nRF Connect for Desktop Programmer app does not support debugging.

To debug the nRF52840 Dongle, you need an external debugger. This can for example be a Jlink debugger or one of our Dev elopement Kits.

If I only use the nRF Connect for Desktop Programmer, how can I debug the nRF52840 dongle? Could erasing the bootloader perhaps offer a solution? And how to erasing bootloader.

While the ZigBee light switch sample sample is not offiically tested for the nRF52840 Dongle, I beleive it should work.
Maybe some changes are needed, but it should not be too much.

Let me know if you get issues running this sample on the Dongle

The nRF52840 Dongle is using a bootloader.

VS Code detects devices connected via a debugger (for example DKs).

To program the nRF52840 Dongle, I recommend the nRF Connect for Desktop programmer app.

I had a similar question as part of some more questions. And also a different OS.

But, reading your answer, I wonder if only one of those will show up in Connected Devices and the other not?
Or it might just be a question to solve the problem differently...
