Running `west update` and `pip3 install ... requirements.txt` after switching sdk-nrf branch solved my problem. Many thanks.

git branch of "github.com/.../sdk-nrf"

The zephyr workspace contains more than just one git repos. If you want to use a different branch of that repo, you need to obey several points:

- ensure, that you use the build tools (e.g. python, west, compiler toolchain etc.) with the version requires for that ncs version.

- don't forget to west update

- don't forget to "pip3 instal ... requirements.txt" (see https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/gs_installing.html#install-additional-python-dependencies)

Or, use the nRF Connect for Desktop, install the Toolchain Manager and let that do the work for you. start the "sh" from that toolchain manager, and it will work without too much pain (hope your OS is supported :-) ).

Zephyr supports applications running on different boards.

You select the nrf9160-dk.

To switch to the Thingy-91, use "-b thingy91_nrf9160_ns" to select that board.
