My application is based on the coap_client sample, and is running on the nRF52840DK. It runs fine all alone. I have added code to download 'app_update.bin' to external qspi flash. Now I want to enable MCUBOOT to swap

RE: MCUBOOT + OpenThread problems

Fixed it.

When the project has a child image, as it does when MCUBOOT is enabled, the flash partitions in the DTS will be ignored. The partitions from the Partition Manager will be used instead.

I added this to overlay-dfu_support.conf

CONFIG_PM_PARTITION_SIZE_SETTINGS_STORAGE=0x8000

CONFIG_SETTINGS_NVS_SECTOR_COUNT=8

to match the dts partitions.

See this discussion: https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/82821/after-enabling-mcuboot-in-ncs-external-flash-doesn-t-get-picked-up-by-littlefs

The location of "settings_storage" is wrong, and so is the size of the primary app.

According to the project dts overlay file (see above), the size of slot0 should be 0xE8000, and the location of 'storage' should be 0xF8000 (from nrf52840dk_nrf52840.dts)

And this is after adding this to the mcuboot prf.conf:

CONFIG_PM_PARTITION_SIZE_SETTINGS_STORAGE=0x8000

CONFIG_SETTINGS_NVS_SECTOR_COUNT=8

Does mcuboot use a different dts file than the application? Do I need to add an overlay to mcuboot specifically?

The above display matches partitions.yml

The only thing I can think of is that the storage partition could be moved when you define the slots for MCUboot, and somehow corrupts the stored dataset.

How would this happen? How can it be prevented?

Is it only the network key that is incorrect, or is the whole network dataset wrong?

The only thing I can think of is that the storage partition could be moved when you define the slots for MCUboot, and somehow corrupts the stored dataset.

Are you using the exact same project that was working on the old computer? Do you have the old computer available, to do a comparison?
