Thanks a lot! That documentation was actually what i was missing to get this right.

I fixed the issue defining the partition in the pm_static.yml file instead of the board file than assigning it to the "external_flash" region that is generated when assigning the external flash device to "nordic,pm-ext-flash"

Could you send your complete dts and overlay files?

Partitioning external flash memory can be done using Regions. Documentation also provides information about external flash memory partitions.
