Hi Simon,

One way of doing this is by following this path: Thread device--POST-->CoAP Server--GET-->Mobile CoAP Client App

If the thread device can POST to a CoAP server, then everything is exactly same as solution mentioned in nRF91 simple tracker solution – Nordic Developer Academy (nordicsemi.com). There is CoAP client that can run on mobile phone.

Fine, but i just don't understand the mechanism....If i know the IP of my thread device how could i send a GET request for example, from my smartphone to get temperature data from that device? How phone and thread device will understand each other?

Hi Simon,

It is possible to do this.. Thread supports IPv6. Therefore, as long as both the phone and Thread device have IPv6 connectivity there is no problem to send packets between them through the border router. If the phone only have IPv4, then the border router need to implement NAT64 or similar. Hope this clears your doubt..

I'm wondering how could i send data from my personal thread network to a device, like a smartphone, through the border router as well.

Is there a way?

Hi Simon,

I have checked with experts regarding this.. If you want to send data from server to client application over CoAP, you will need to implement client on server side and server on client side. Or you can send packages through UDP, which would be less setup/configuration.
