I am using mesh chat example and it takes 1.1mA avg when i implemented the following

And when i implement according to the following thread ( )
the power consumption increases is upto 2.70mA
how to acheive low power without using LPN example

RE: Low power mesh in nrf connect sdk

Continuous radio use is what ensures that a node will receive the messages that are meant for it. I guess you could stop the Mesh functionality of one or multiple nodes for a period of time, though that would essentially render that part of the Mesh network useless.
Mostly we couldn't be able to set an LPN with Friend node which requires a mains power, but we need our nodes to go into sleep.
I see. Well note that multiple LPNs can have the same node as a Friend. And I wouldn't say that any node would necessarily require mains power, but that is typically what you would have for some of your nodes in a situation where Mesh pays off. In what way couln't you set an LPN with a Friend node?

Regards,

I would have to get back to you when it comes to whether or not the numbers you've achieved are too large. Though please keep in mind that even though Bluetooth 'low energy' is being used, Bluetooth Mesh isn't that power efficient. Continuous relaying and radio use is the backbone of Mesh, so for Bluetooth Mesh to pay off, you'd normally want at least one of the nodes being connected to the mains.

The LPN and Friend node is usually what you would opt for when you require something more power efficient. Are you sure you are not able to use an LPN for the node that you are referring to?

Please also note that we are in the holiday period, so getting a response on DevZone might take longer than usual.

Regards,
