It's specified in the documentation here, but I agree that we could make it even more clear.

We never runs tests on Win8 so it's difficult to say what is causing it. Could you see if you're able to reproduce this on OS running Win10 or later.

That's weird for a desktop tool that doesn't say on the website when I download the tool.

Please update the website to show compatibility so that customers don't have to spend days for this answer.

Hi,

Windows 8 is not supported by us. Please upgrade to at least Windows 10.

1. I got the .inf from the thingy91 itself and installed them by disabling the signature(in this instance the data was also displayed on the nRF cloud)

2.I got the debug UARt working but the nRF desktop shows the same error.

3. My problem of Thingy91 not being detected in nRF Desktop exists

Can you look at what this error means?

I have forcefully loaded the device list driver

1. The thingy91 worked on another pc and nrf was able detect it right away.

1. Yes i was able to flash the Thingy91 via 1.27mm IDC connector from the debugger on nRF9160 DK

It would be best if you were able to test it on another computer, using a virtual machine would just complicate this even further I think..

Ok, so at some point you've been able to flash the Thingy:91 with the correct fw? Did you use the USB or a debugger + SWD interface?

Ok, so previously you had the 1.27 mm SWD cable and could update the Thingy:91 by using the cable and the onboard debugger on the DK, but now you want to use the USB instead but the device is not listed correctly in nRF Connect Programmer.

I'm not sure, it should in most cases work straight-out-of-the-box.

Can you share a screenshot of the device in the device manager list. Does it say that it can't find the drivers for the device, is any errors displayed?

Also what Operating system are you running, which version?

Hi,

My understanding is:

You've used a debug cable between the nRF9160 DK to program both the connectivity fw on the nRF52 as well as the modem fw on the nRF9160 + the application. But you're still not able to get it to connect to nRF Cloud. You've done the same with the nRF9160 DK and are able to get a connection.
You've tried using the USB method by just connecting a USB cable to the thingy:91 but you say that the device doesn't appear on the nRF programmer app.

Questions:

Could you try the same on another computer? The result would indicate whether the issue is with your Thingy:91 itself or your computer configuration etc.
Can you try to reinstall nRF Connect Desktop. Make sure to delete all of the plugins by deleting all of the files from C:\Users\<user>\.nrfconnect-apps.

I was able to connect to Thingy91 Uart from mobile nRF connect app over nRF52 BLE

HI Jared, I do that. for whatever reason, the Thingy91 is not get detected in the nRF desktop.

I have programmed the nRF9160DK and got the data to the cloud using Twilio sim.

Also i have used External debug between the nRF9160DK and Thingy91 and programmed the Thingy91 with nRF52 connectivity bride, nRF9160 with Modem, and application firmware.

Still the thingy91 doesnt work in nRF desktop.

The two uarts exposed in device manager cannot find drivers. I have load the drivers as some in a post in the form told (like nRF 52 CDC driver) no help.

Both of above drivers did not work.(one form thing91 and the right one from the forum)

Did you make sure that you pressed SW4 when you switched the Power on for debugging the nRF52840?

Please upload these files directly to this case. I can't see files located at external drives. You can use insert->Image/video/file option in the message reply box.
