I am evaluating the nrf52840 dk board for Matter 1.0 projects and I managed to do something really stupid when I had everything set up in VS Code.
After installing the VS Code nRF connect extension I was able to detect my board and successfully

RE: Recovering nrf52840 DK after erasing in VS Code nRFconnect extension

Thanks a million Marte, This answer was very helpful and now my board is back.
Erasing the board should not brick the board, only erase the program and UICR. The nRF52840 has an onboard debugger, so you will be able to program it even if you erase the bootloader.

Please try the following:

Connect the board to your computer

Make sure the switches are in the following states:
SW6: DEFAULT
SW9: VDD power
SW8: ON

Open a terminal and run the following command:

nrfjprog --ids

This should return the serial numbers of all connected J-Link debuggers, for example:

$ nrfjprog --ids

1050723722

683009952

If this command returns a serial number, then your board should be working fine and you just need to program it again. If the command does not return any serial numbers, please let me know.

Best regards,

Marte
