I am observing something that is quite strange on the GPIO input. I am developing BLE+ANT Device for our sensor with NRF52840 (BL654-Laird Module) + Freescale Controller. nRF52840 interface with Freescale Controller using UART interface

RE: P1.15 GPIO Fail to Read Input Level

Hi Himansu,

This could be due to being exposed to voltage that is higher than the specified absolute maximum ratings as explained in the PS or due to ESD.

Pin 15 is not short during soldering reason is that we tested shorting during production. one reason is IC or pin damaged

We tested with nRF52 DK and Other boards and it is working. I have tested this board and it working but after use for 3 month, this pin 15 is damaged.

Thanks.

From the results I've suspect that either the IC itself is damaged or the Pin 15 has been shorted during soldering. Can you:

Replace the IC with a new one and see if it works

Try to reproduce this with a development kit connected to freescale controller.

Cut the trace between them on the PCB on Pin 15?

Ans: Yes, Cut trace between Nordic and Frescale controller.

Flash the hex file that I've shared below to the nRF52840.

Ans: Yes (Without Softdevice)

Report what you measure on Pin 15?

Ans: it is P1.15 and Measure 0.07V

RE: P1.15 GPIO Fail to Read Input Level

Hi,

Just to make sure that the nRF52840 isn't directly affected by the freescale controller. Can you:

Cut the trace between them on the PCB on Pin 15?

Flash the hex file that I've shared below to the nRF52840.

How is nRF52840 configured, is it configured in high voltage mode or normal mode. If it's configured in high voltage mode, what is REG0 set to?

Ans: Normal Mode

What voltage domain does the GPIOs on the freescale mcu run at? 3V3?

Ans: +3V3

What happens if you switch the pullup to a 13 kohm? What do you measure then

Ans: If I switch to 13K ohm, it stays GND.

I want to let you know one more thing. When UART Communication starts at that time both the controller pin stay in outmode mode for few milliseconds and the nordic pin stay Output High when Freescale controller pin output low.

Please see red mark area.
