What is the duration of one packet of advertising? if i have a Advertising interval of 100 ms and a timeout of 180 s, how many packets are send?

RE: advertising interval and advertising timeout

Thank you..

RE: advertising interval and advertising timeout

Why should it be greater? If you set it to 180 seconds it will advertise every second for 180 seconds, then timeout, i.e. stop advertising. If the interval is 40 ms it will advertise every 40 ms for 180 seconds, then timeout, i.e. stop advertising.

RE: advertising interval and advertising timeout

Then the advertising interval should be greater than the advertising timeout. Now i am debugging nordic_uart service program which is in examples folder in sdk9.0.0.In that program advertising interval defined as 40 ms and advertising timeout defined as 180 seconds. How is it possible?? or whether i misunderstand your explanation. Thanks in advance

RE: advertising interval and advertising timeout

You can see that it is actually 1 second by using a sniffer, for example nRF Sniffer. In each advertise event the device will issue Advertise packets on the three advertisement channels (37,38 and 39).

In other words, if you have set your advertise interval to 1 second, you will see advertisement packets (events) from the device once each second.

The advertisement timeout is used to tell the device for how long it should advertise. If it is set to 0 no timeout will be used, and the device will advertise until it is told not to.
