&lt;p&gt;The PCB footprint you highlighted is to re-program the on-board J-link chip with a tag connect cable. If you want to program the nRF on the DK with an external J-link programmer, then you need to use the 9-pin&amp;nbsp;&lt;a title="Debug input " href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ug_nrf52832_dk/UG/dk/hw_debug_in_trace.html?cp=4_2_4_3_6"&gt;Debug input&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;port.&lt;/p&gt;

This starts the bootloader for the &lt;em&gt;debug interface&lt;/em&gt; MCU and and allows flashing the firmware, IIRC by just copying the file onto it.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Using this bootloader w/o flashing kind of bricks the board until you re-flash the interface firmware again.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
