i find some discussions on the internet saying that android seems to have some limitation on IPv6 ping out. but i'm not so sure if this is the case.

Yes, I tried 2 different APs. both have IPv6 options. and since i can ping door lock device from notebook with IPv6.

Regarding RA guard, one of the 2 APs has no RA guard option while another one does with some IPv6 connection type. i confirmed the RA guard is off and test again. but the result is the same.

I can find the 2 services(matter tcp. and matterc udp) via service browser on the phone.

and pings from the host notebook system to the OTBR and device is OK before the failsafe mechanism takes place.

however, all pings from phone with IPv6 failed. no matter ping to OTBR or to device or even to the phone itself, pings in CLI all respond with "unknown host". but the phone did respond IPv6 pings from the host notebook system. and the phone pings to notebook with IPv4 is also ok.

Hi,

From the logs, we see that a CASE session wasn't established. The device joined a Thread network, but then the android chiptool couldn't reach it. There could be some reasons for that:

1) Android Phone was on a different network than OTBR.
2) SRP services were not visible outside a VM virtualbox network.

The failsafe mechanism worked and the device removed its Thread state/credentials so it is ok that it lost connection to OTBR. I think you could:

Check whether Android Phone is connected to the same network as OTBR
- Check whether SRP services are visible on the phone just after the device is joined to Thread network (on another/ the same phone use service browser android app) There should be visible something like that: 4F5810709105CA2C-0000000000000017._matter._tcp and B631BB1655664801._matterc._udp where those numbers you can read from the device's log and compare.
Check a ping from the host notebook system to the OTBR and device
Check a ping from an android phone to the OTBR/host system (there are some apps in the google play store to get CLI)

It will be helpful if you install the Service Browser android app to verify if the OTBR advertises SRP service to the existing wifi network to which the OTBR is connected (if services are available beyond Border Router).
