yes i understand that there is bootloader in dongle, what i mean is when nrf connect for desktop programs the dongle, where the hex file can be downloaded as below:

using bluetooth low energy standalone4.0.4.

Hi Simon,

Yes the bluetooth low energy can automatically program dongle.

May i ask where the dongle 10059.hex can be downloaded? so i can program it manually.

I tried SDK:\examples\connectivity\ble_connectivity\hex\ble_connectivity_s140_usb_hci_pca10059.hex, but failure information is as this ticket shows.

Yes, it's possible to trigger the message again. After inserting your Dongle into a USB port, press the side mounted button next to the white one to put it in bootloader mode. Then it wil pulse a red LED to indicate that it's in bootloader mode. It will show up in the SELECT DEVICE tab as an Open DFU Bootloader. The pop-up message will be triggered, and you can press "Yes" to program the connectivity firmware onto the Dongle.

I don't remember getting that popup message, so I am pretty sure that's precisely what I am missing.
Is it possible to trigger the message again?

Or should I follow the Programming steps manually? The guide on infocenter leads to installing nRF5 SDK v17.1.0, and then maybe I could try following Bluetooth Low Energy examples https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fsdk_nrf5_v17.1.0%2Fexamples_ble_central.html

I just tested this on an nRF52840 Dongle myself, and did not have any trouble. I have the same version of all the apps as you do, so it shouldn't be an issue there. When selecting the Dongle, did you press "Yes" when this message popped up? If not, that's necessary.

To make sure it is programmed. Press the side mounted button on the Dongle after you've plugged it in to put it in bootloader mode. There should be a pulsing red LED to indicate this and it will show up in the "SELECT DEVICE" tab as Open DFU Bootloader.
