It's not an issue I want a solution to - just something to be aware of. Apparently, newer versions of python (in this case 11) are getting installed with the executable as python3.exe instead of python.exe with no 'links'. If anything you might want to add it to the documentation when everything looks right and it still doesn't work. This might have happened because in my case python was getting installed during the installation of an Angular Cli project.

Just one of the many possible 'gotchas'!

What killed me was that I had the right version of Python installed but the executable was python3.exe. I spent hours trying to figure out why the sniffer interface didnt show. Renamed python3.exe to python.exe and Wireshark saw the interface.

God help me!!!

Hello,

Yes there is known issue with nRF52840DK rev3.0.0 and nRF sniffer firmware, the issue seems to be in UART connection. So as a workaround try to connect your other USB port (nRF USB) in DK to the PC. Now flash the nRF sniffer firmware via the programmer app (Erase and write). Please let me know the update.

nRF52840DK is not recognized by Wireshark

I think latest version is not supported for sniffer as per above ticket

My issue has been resolved successfully. I incorrectly assumed that the proper sniifing file had been self-programmed. I subsequently flashed the required hex file.

I'm in the same boat. My nrf52840 dongle isn't being recognised as an interface on Wireshark 4.0.4 running on Mac OS 11.7.2

The "nRF Sniffer for Bluetooth LE" toolbar is loaded and visible in Wireshark but is empty.
I can run the ./nrf_sniffer_ble.sh --extcap-interfaces command from within the Wireshark extcap folder.

Based on the number of other similar posts, this seems to be a common probem. Assistance will be appreciated.

Hello,

It's bit strange and I couldn't find any reason other than improper installation. Are you getting any error message while opening the Wireshark? I suggest you to erase the board and try to install sniffer from the scratch. Please follow all the steps mentioned in here correctly. Please share a screenshot of the nRF programmer App after flashing the sniffer hex file and a screenshot of the Wireshark interface, if the issue still persist.

Sorry it's a mistake from my side. My PC was connected with nRF dongle runnig with sniffer firmware and I overlooked this with DK. After flashing the DKs it won't change the name as you can see in my previous screenshot it's also nRF52840DK. But when you open the Wireshark you can see the device as nRF sniffer for Bluetooth:

Are you able to see your device like this?

I have used latest firmware (sniffer_nrf52840dk_nrf52840_4.1.1.hex). flashing via programmer was success but in programmer it shows as below only

Hello,

Have you installed the correct firmware for the nRF52840dk? You need to install sniffer_nrf52840dk_nrf52840_4.1.0.hex file.If you have installed it properly then your device will be visible in the nRF connect for Destop Programmer as nRF sniffer for Bluetooth See the below screenshot:

If this works well, then you can follow all the steps mentioned here.

i have nrf52833 which works but new board(nrf52840) is not at all detecting in wireshark.
