You should be able to view the local variables, see "nRF Connect for VS Code - Debugging" video:

Though you need to check Enable debug options, see "nRF Connect for VS Code - Building an application" video.

Any update on this? Without the ability to inspect variables, the VS Code debugger is essentially useless.

Understood. What is the recommended way to check the values of local variables if that feature is not available at the moment?

I did check internally and it seems it’s not entirely possible to do due to some limitation in VS code at the moment.
