Twister is developed in the upstream zephyr, hence Oyvind's suggestion is the best one. Some of your questions might already be answered in the documentation for the latest upstream version (harnesses, build_only) https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/develop/test/twister.html You can also always raise issues in the zephyr's github for clarifications and/or discuss your issues in the zephyr's discord (channels testing or twister) discord.com/.../Ck7jw53nU2 where I also try to answer incoming questions whenever I have some time

Emulation/simulation platforms (like qemu, native_posix, etc) are not supported on Windows. It is not even a twister issue, qemus and native_posix are highly dependent on the posix systems and are not supported on Windows. As for the code, the "decision" is happening here github.com/.../testinstance.py

Hello,

The Test Runner (Twister) is part of the Zephyr RTOS, I am not familiar with this, and from our SDK it seems that nRF9160 DK is only tested in the nRF Connect SDK. I would recommend asking the Zephyr community for more support on this matter.
