 If, in my CMakeLists.txt file, I do this, it works: 
 
 execute_process ( COMMAND CMD /c echo hi OUTPUT_VARIABLE APP_BUILD_DATE ECHO_OUTPUT_VARIABLE )

&lt;p&gt;In VS code can you please run nRF Connect: Support information and provide the output?&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;What project are you running is VS Code? What build configuration do you have for the project?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Please provide more information for me to reproduce. It will also be good if you could include full build log.&lt;/p&gt;
