Hi,

Looking online, this seems to be an issue with clang 12 on macOS. I found several people reporting linker problems when using clang 12.
Some solved a similar issue by setting SDKROOT to the path of the macOS Command Line Tools in environment variables: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/63342521/clang-on-macos-having-problems-with-its-includes.

If this does not fix the issue, is using clang 11 instead an option?

HI,
in the logs, no error regarding the compiler is detected except the one I have already attached the only thing is that one compiles. With the other from the errors that I have attached.
My MAC still has the x64 processor,

Do you have logs with this error?

Which version of macOS are you using? And does your Mac have an M1 chip or x64?

I noticed just ago that the compilation error I have with "Clang 12.0.0 x86_64-apple-darwin19.6.0" while selecting "Clang 11.0.0 x86_64-apple-darwin19.6.0", I compile without problems. But I still don't understand why. I'll do some tests and see if I can figure it out.

Hi,

It fails because optind and optarg are undeclared in sms_shell.c and icmp_ping_shell.c.
Make sure you include getopt.h in these files:

#include <getopt.h>

Also make sure that you have the following configs set in prj.conf:

# Getopt
CONFIG_GETOPT_LIB=y
# Need to disable devmem shell since it enforces Zephyr's internal version of getopt
CONFIG_DEVMEM_SHELL=n
